Help Cater Homes to Your Custom Preferences

We’re super excited to announce the launch of our Home Feedback features, which allows a user to provide feedback on each home directly.

This article highlights this functionality, how you can best use it to improve your experience, and how we will utilize the feedback.

Before we continue, we wanted to give many thanks for the gracious feedback provided by many of you. This includes feature requests, bug fixes, and overall process suggestions. This Home Feedback feature is all thanks to all of you, who helped ideate what this could be and how it could best serve our Doorvestors.

New Functionality

You can read more about the design and ideation process below, but first, let’s cover what functionality has been added!

Like & Dislike

The main design change you’ll notice is the addition of a ‘thumbs-up’ and ‘thumbs-down’ button featured on the Home Profile and Home Profile Cards.

Pressing on either one will reflect a green or red color respectively to indicate that your feedback has been successfully processed and logged by our systems.

Additional Feedback Request

While knowing that you like or dislike a home is very useful for our team and our DoorMatch algorithm, we’d like to drill down even further.

A pop-up will open up that has a couple functions:

  1. Allowing you to choose up to 4 options such as

    • Neighborhood

    • Picture Quality

    • Cash Flow

    • …and more!

  2. A comment box which will be reviewed by your Client Partner and our Acquisitions team to help cater homes to your custom preferences.

Use of Data

As a company, we default to transparency, proactively sharing in our success, challenges, and journey. It’s a part of our ethos. In fact, the first line of this paragraph is copy and pasted from our Core Values.

In this section, I’ll share some specific uses of the data you’ll be providing for us. If you’re not super interested and want the short version— it really just comes down to making the best customer experience possible. If you’re looking for our legal-side, please view our Privacy Policy here.

Use 1: Client Partner Use

We’ve built an internal dashboard for our Client Partners to view feedback and draw it back to a particular Doorvestor. This is important as it’ll allow your specific Client Partner to reach out with homes that are better fitted to your feedback. This will allow a more tailored service model for Doorvestors.

Use 2: Acquisition of Homes

If we use the aggregated data from all users, we can identify home features or traits that our user base values. This informs our underwriting and Acquisitions team to go look specifically for these houses. This will increase the overall supply of ‘desirable’ homes for Doorvestors.

Use 3: Algorithm Improvement

The data collected will feed back into DoorMatch, our home-to-user matching algorithm. Similar to the Client Partner use, this will help provide a more tailored service for Doorvestors.

Other Uses

We’ll inevitably find more uses as we analyze the data on a regular cadence. While we can’t 100% define what these other uses are right now, we do strive to positively impact every person, community, and industry our business touches.

The Product, Design, and Engineering Process

Our design process always starts with, “what problem(s) are we trying to solve?” And that’s where your feedback comes in. Asking for feature requests, providing feedback for our team, and giving suggestions for improvements are a foundational component to our design process. We review everything provided by you, our Doorvestors, and our internal team members!

For this feature specifically, many customers would share their criteria with their dedicated Client Partner and notate reasons why they didn’t like a certain house.

We wanted to centralize this data and have it not only inform a specific Client Partner, but use it to identify trends across our customer base. This allows us to better provide a higher quality ‘white-glove’ service for our Doorvestors.

In short…

We know that Home Feedback features welcome changes that will improve the customer experience.

At Doorvest, The Door Is Always Open. We accept constructive feedback and incorporate them into our future actions. If you would like to request a feature or share your thoughts, click here, or email our Product Manager, Justin, directly here.
